Responsible purchasing and production of agricultural commodities

This course provides practical guidance on understanding and managing responsible supply chains for agricultural commodity crops. Through a combination of presentations, discussions and workshops we will provide you with the information and techniques needed to develop and successfully implement appropriate responsible purchasing policies.
You will develop an understanding of the current key issues and drivers, and policy-based and practical responses. We will provide a detailed and up-to-date overview of the various initiatives that currently exist to tackle unsustainable management practices for oil palm, soy, sugar cane and other relevant commodity crops, including their requirements for sustainable production, and how these can be linked to responsible business through good supply chain management.
The course will include specific attention to issues relevant to the sourcing of biofuels feedstocks, including international and national responses to current controversies.
