socThis course will focus on some key social requirements contained within current sustainable oil palm and forest certification. It will cover:

  • concepts of free prior informed consent
  • participation and consultation
  • customary rights
  • key labour issues.

You will also be introduced to methods of gathering information from communities and labour workers.

Outcomes

You will be able to understand and interpret key social requirements within forest and oil palm certification, specifically social impact assessments, free prior informed consent, participatory mapping, consultation and participation in HCV assessments and core labour issues.
