Our work ranges from international policy development to the practical implementation of requirements on the ground, with a particular focus on turning policy into practice. Our extensive and up-todate knowledge of the international context ensures that our work for individual companies and organisations is set within an appropriate framework.

At the same time, we are able to bring a wealth of current practical experience to policy development processes and debates.
ProForest personnel are international and multilingual, allowing us to work comfortably in a range of cultures and languages including English, French, Chinese, Bahasa Malaysia, Scandinavian, Spanish and Portuguese.

 

A project manager provides clients with a point of contact, but delivery is usually through a team-based approach, utilising the skills of several people. We also undertake many projects in partnership with other organisations. We are particularly interested in projects which involve building capacity in local partner, allowing them to continue the work after our direct involvement ends.

The ProForest team’s individual backgrounds range from industry to academia with combined experience of working in more than forty countries. All team members have higher degrees in natural resource management or biological sciences, and at least five years of experience in the natural resource sector.
ProForest was set up in January 2002 and is still owned by its founding directors Dr Ruth Nussbaum and Neil Judd. The company roots are in forestry but now ProForest expertise covers all aspects of the natural resources sector.
