Proforest consists of two separate entities, which together pursue our goal of achieving the sustainable management of the world’s natural resources and safeguarding of our environment for the future.
We help a diverse range of organisations through two different entities:
- Proforest Consultancy Services provides commercial services to producers, processors, purchasers and investors, to help them work in environmentally and socially sustainable ways. For more than ten years Proforest has provided these services as a not-for-profit entity, with all profit reinvested in the company. Since 2010, commercial services are provided through Proforest Ltd and our Malaysian subsidiary Proforest Sdn Bhd. All profits are used to support the Proforest Initiative.
- The Proforest Initiative is a registered charity, established in 2010 and overseen by an independent board of trustees. The Initiative provides support for the development of sustainability standards, safeguards and initiatives, research and policy, and provides training and capacity building services.
This combination of commercial and charitable activities allows us to provide specialist knowledge and support to both private enterprises and non-commercial organisations, while keeping our focus on pragmatic and practical approaches that work in the real world.
