CPET visits Ireland

WOOD-NI, in cooperation with Irish Timber Trade Association held a half-day conference on Environment and sustainability on the 26th September.

CPET was invited to give a presentation to more than 30 representatives from the timber trade.  Companies from Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland were given an update on the UK Government's timber procurement policy.

Sofie Tind Nielsen, the CPET representative, also touched on the policies of other EU member states, the new policy and FLEGT in her presentation. There was a keen interest to learn how to comply with the policy and the evidence required.

Frank Miller from Track Record Ltd. and Ken Walsh from Karl Danzer provided the introduction,  an overview of timber sustainability and environmental issues, and certification from a supplier's perspective.
