First meeting of TRG

June 2007

TRGlargeKey stakeholders in the UK construction industry met earlier this month to discuss implementation of the timber procurement policy in their organisations and on their construction sites.

The Technical Review Group (TRG) forms a key part of the CPET construction section pilot study.  Their role is to oversee the study, and provide input into the methodology as well as interpretation and communication of the results.

The pilot study is examining the level of implementation on a sample of Government projects, identifying areas where additional support is needed and providing an opportunity for stakeholders to feedback on the way that information will be reported to Government.

The CPET Monitoring project manager, Sofie Tind Neilsen, said ‘We are very pleased with the level of engagement by the construction companies. They have offered valuable input into the methodology, particularity with respect to how we approach subcontractors. It is in everyone’s interest to work collaboratively on this issue, and that really came through at this meeting’.

The next meeting, scheduled for September, will include an update on the study as well as a draft proposal for reporting based on discussions with participants and information collected from the projects visited.
