CPET activities

June 2007

CPET1The key activity for June has been designing and preparing for the consultation on the implementation of the policy in 2009. We have organised with the help of Defra, an event to launch the consultation, and have invited many key stakeholders to attend.

The construction sector pilot study continues to steam forward, with the first Technical Review Group meeting held in London on June 5th and a further ten meetings and site visits undertaken in June throughout the UK.

We also met with representatives from the American Hardwood Export Council to discuss Category B evidence, and potential implications for the future. Work continues on developing guidance for Category B evidence, and we have posted some detail about the GFTN, SGS and SmartWood on the website.

We’ve done some work on the CPET website, adding sections entitled ‘evidence of compliance’, ‘technical methodology’ and ‘implementation in practice’. These include pages dedicated to the monitoring programme and the construction sector pilot study.

Looking towards the autumn, we’ve been asked to run workshops in Aberdeen and Belfast, and are in the beginning stages of coordinating those.
