New CPET coordinator
July 2007
Rachel Butler has joined the CPET team, taking over the role of coordinator. She brings a wealth of experience to the job, including in-depth knowledge of the timber industry. Rachel has just spent over six years working as the Environmental Manager for one of the UK’s largest timber importers; previously she worked in policy and project development for both local and regional government. Rachel is keen to apply her past experiences to her new role; “The CPET process is very important to the timber industry and the public sector alike; continuing to develop the process to meet both their needs will be my priority.”
Rachel will take over the role from Kate Bottriell, who has worked as the co-ordinator since the CPET service was launched nearly two years ago. Regular helpline users will know her better as the friendly Canadian voice on the other end of the line – a role she admits she will miss. ‘It’s been a very interesting and challenging experience’ says Kate, ‘I’ve enjoyed it very much’.
Her work to date has brought her in contact with CPET, including participating in a Category B pilot study earlier in the year and contributions to past consultations.
Rachel, together with the CPET team, will continue to drive forward key activities including the monitoring programme, and the development of solutions for implementation of the policy changes planned for 2009.
