Proforest has been working with palm oil producers for more than ten years. We’ve provided technical support to the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) since its inception, and facilitated the original process to develop its Principles and Criteria. This means we have a close relationship with many organisations in the sector.
We work with many private sector clients throughout the supply chain. This puts us in a unique position to help you work towards meeting RSPO and other sector standards.
Where do we work?
We have offices and professional teams based in Malaysia, Brazil and Ghana. We have palm oil clients in many countries, including Brazil, Colombia, Côte d’Ivoire, Gabon, Ghana, Indonesia, Malaysia and Nigeria. We also have programmes working with smallholder suppliers to palm oil companies in both West Africa and Latin America.
How can we help you?
We work with clients across the entire palm oil supply chain, from producers to retailers. Our practical experience in the field complements our knowledge of palm oil supply chains, so we can offer you a package of support tailored to your needs.
We can help you to:
- carry out new planting assessments. We can work with you to make sure the new production areas that supply you meet all the necessary requirements. These include using the high conservation value (HCV) and high carbon stock (HCS) approaches, as well as meeting legal and social requirements.
- meet sustainable production standards. We provide core technical support to help producers move towards RSPO certification, or compliance with the environmental and social standards you require. We carry out internal baseline assessments, and environmental and social impact assessments, with a particular focus on high conservation values (HCVs). We can support you to develop and implement the management systems you need to reach certification, and provide on-going training for staff and management.
- understand your supply chain and move towards responsible sourcing of your palm oil. We do this by mapping your supply chain and analysing risks of suppliers not meeting your policy commitments. We then work with your suppliers to help them understand and meet your commitments on areas including the environment, deforestation, labour and land rights.
