Supporting Royal Horticultural Society's Timber Products Policy

Since 2002 the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) has had a policy in place on trees and timber products. The policy sets out the Society’s commitment to supporting good forest management and requires that all wood products brought to RHS Flower Shows are made from wood certified as sustainable.

Since 2002, Proforest has been carrying out pre-show reviews of documentary evidence of compliance with the policy provided by potential exhibitors. Subsequently, we also carry out exhibitor audits at most of the RHS shows, including the Tatton Park, Hampton Court Palace and Chelsea Flower Shows, and the Malvern Gardening Show.

In addition, Proforest undertook a review of the policy in 2009 and suggested ways to improve the feasibility of implementation.
