Annual Training Programme 2012

A unique opportunity for anyone involved in practical approaches to responsible purchasing or investment, the sustainable management or certification of forests or agricultural commodities, and in conservation issues and climate change.

Now in its 11th year, the annual training programme has established an impressive reputation as a leader in the field, bringing together key players from around the world. The programme has been attended by more than 450 participants from over 50 different countries. These participants come from a wide range of backgrounds, from companies to governments to NGOs, and from all parts of the supply chain, from resource managers through to processors and retailers, offering a stimulating learning environment. Add to this our trainers’ international reputation for providing practical, in-depth training across a range of subjects, and you have the unique mix of knowledge sharing that makes the traning programme so highly regarded.

This year, the programme offers two courses:

  • Responsible Forestry and Timber Trade A course giving a comprehensive understanding of the market requirements for sustainable and legal timber. This includes training on the EU FLEGT and VPA requirements, major certification schemes, legality verification initiatives, the HCV concept, and an introduction to climate change and forests including an update on REDD+. Both courses last 5 days and consist of a 3-day core module, followed by a 2-day optional module focusing on the High Conservation Value (HCV) concept and climate change issues.

 

 

 

 

Last year the Annual Training Programme was attended by 42 participants from 18 countries on 5 continents and from 30 different organisations, from private companies and government agencies to NGOs.
