10th Proforest Summer Training ProgrammeJuly 2011, Oxford, United Kingdom
The 10th Proforest Summer Training Programme was held in Oxford from 18 to 22 July 2011. The 42 participants came from 18 countries on 5 continents and from 30 different organisations, from private companies and Government agencies to NGOs. To view images from the event, please click here.
This year the Summer Training Programme offered courses on 4 different areas: Responsible Forestry and Timber Trade which focused on the links between forest management and the changing market requirements in consumer countries; Responsible Sourcing on Agricultural Commodities which provides guidance on understanding and managing responsible supply chains; Forest and Climate Change which gave an update on the global debate as it is related to forestry, and particularly on the recent developments of REDD+ (Reduced Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation) and High Conservation Values which centred on the HCV concept as a practical tool for conserving critical values in production landscapes.
The Proforest Summer Training Programme aims to offer up-to-date and expert training for professionals involved in sustainable management, certification or responsible purchasing of natural resources, and those interested in practical approaches to forest conservation and climate change. Next year's training course will again take place in July in Oxford (dates to be confirmed). However, Proforest runs both generic and bespoke training courses for specific audiences, sectors or clients in various countries throughout the year. For more information, please contact our training manager, Andry Rakotovololona or call +44 (0) 1865 243439 to discuss your training needs.
