We are an internationally recognised, independent organisation whose
unique expertise delivers sustainable natural resource management,
from policy, investment and procurement, to production on the ground.

Oil Palm Support Programme

The Oil Palm Support Programme works with producers, processors, buyers and investors to help them deliver sustainability.

Proforest has been working with the oil palm sector for over a decade, supporting the development of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), advising governments and NGOs on sustainable palm oil and helping companies implement sustainability in practice.

We work throughout the supply chain, offering everything from practical field implementation support to plantations through to development and implementation support for investment and purchasing policies. This broad expertise, combined with our in-depth knowledge of sustainability requirements such as the RSPO principles and criteria and the IFC performance standard, is one of the programme's key strengths.

What we can do for primary producers and processors

oil palm producers iconsMany oil palm plantation managers are committed to implementing sustainable management and achieving RSPO certification but find the process very challenging. Proforest can provide support and guidance to understand the requirements, to assess current performance and to design and implement practical solutions.

What we can do for buyers, processors and investors

As awareness of the potential environmental and social impact of palm oil production increases, it is becoming more and more important for companies throughout the supply chain to demonstrate that sustainable sourcing policies are being implemented. For investors, too, it is increasingly important to have policies in place that consider investment risks and impacts. As Proforest has unrivalled understanding of international palm oil supply chains we can help you to understand and manage yours.
