felled treeThis course provides practical guidance on understanding and managing timber supply chains. Through a combination of presentations, discussions and workshops we provide participants with the information and techniques needed to develop and successfully implement a responsible purchasing policy.

You will gain an overview of the various initiatives that currently exist to tackle unsustainable forest management practices and illegal logging, such as the UK Government timber procurement policy, and how these can be linked to responsible business through good supply chain management. You will also develop an understanding of forest certification processes and chain of custody.

Outcomes

On completing this course, you will understand the issues surrounding responsible purchasing of forest products and will be in a position to develop and deliver a responsible purchasing approach.
