Director – Multi-stakeholder Initiatives

Bilge’s technical work centres on engagement with Voluntary Sustainability Standards (VSS), facilitation of multi-stakeholder processes and research relating to standards, due diligence legislation and standards benchmarking. Bilge, who is an Associate Director at Proforest, also sits on the Steering Groups for the ISEAL Code Revision as well as the Accountability Framework Initiative and the Technical Advisory Group for ZSL SPOTT.

Bilge was previously with standard-setter Ecotourism Australia and a researcher on sustainable tourism at CENTICA, University of Kent. She has broad international experience, including humanitarian relief in the Middle East (CARITAS), open & distance learning in Senegal (UNESCO), university semesters in Togo and Mexico, and fieldwork in Southeast Asia, Latin America and Africa, often in the context of standard implementation and assurance.

Bilge speaks English, French, Spanish and German, and holds a BA in Politics and an MRes in Environment and Development from Lancaster University.
