Training programme

Proforest offers a wide range of workshops, courses and certificated programmes, combining a blended approach of delivery from online to face to face, fieldwork to webinars.

Through our publicly available training courses, auditors can qualify to lead certification assessments in palm oil (RSPO) and assessors can gain licenses to carry out High Conservation Value (HCV) and High Carbon Stock (HCS) assessments.

Longer term mentoring also helps both assessors and practitioners build their practical skills, which ultimately develops a cohort of local experts in production countries.

We have developed a number of one-day workshops that we can run in the field for teams on the ground. This includes our Responsible Sourcing Practical Guide, which provides practical guidance for the development and implementation of responsible sourcing policies.

As part of the Africa Practitioners Network (APN) we support trainees to attain practical experience by providing opportunities for them to work on real audits, HCV assessments or consultation exercises with experienced experts.

Endorsed by the RSPO, our Lead Auditor and RSPO Lead Auditor Supply Chain Certification courses are designed for those wishing to carry out auditing for the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) producer standard. We are also qualified to provide training on all HCV reporting requirements and assessment best practice.

Online training

During the COVID pandemic every organisation has had to move much of its work to online delivery and virtual operations. Proforest is committed to ensuring the safety of its staff, customers and partners throughout this time. We have been running a number of training sessions by webinar and we have developed a series of online courses that are available for free.

In addition to the move to online in 2020, we will be launching the Proforest Academy in 2021 to build on our training and capacity building work with clients and partners around the world. The new Academy will provide a digital platform for introductory courses, thematic deep-dives and certification across our work in responsible sourcing and production in agriculture and forestry.
