Paulien Denis

Principal Project Manager

Paulien is a Master graduate in environmental engineering from the university of KU Leuven (BE). She obtained her second Master’s degree, the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s Degree in Sustainable Territorial Development, which took her to universities in Padova (IT), Leuven (BE), Paris (FR), and Campo Grande (BR). She previously worked with the United Nations Office for Sustainable Development in South-Korea, and with the Instituto de Pesquisas Ecológicas in Brazil. During her academic and professional career, she carried out research on Payments for Ecosystem Services, solar hydrogen production, public participation of small-scale farmers, climate adaptation, and sustainable development in general.

At Proforest, she is involved in workstreams on responsible sourcing and production of sugar, beef, soy, and other agricultural commodities; supplier engagement; developing interventions on climate mitigation and adaptation within agricultural supply chains; stakeholder engagement and strategy development on key advocacy topics for the organization. She acts as Global Climate Coordinator, aligning efforts on Deforestation- and Conversion-Free, regenerative agriculture, and landscape initiatives with corporate climate targets. She is based in Brasília and speaks fluent English, Portuguese, French and Dutch.
