Proforest joins the Greenhouse Gas Protocol
Proforest is now a part of the “Actions and Market Instruments” Technical Working Group (TWG) of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, announced on September 30, with a total of 33 members across the globe participating in the standards development process.
The group will contribute to the development of a new standard on corporate actions and market instruments, to be developed over the next couple of years in consultation with the Technical Working Group.
The goal will be to contribute to addressing key questions in FLAG/AFOLU (FLAG – Forestry, Land use and Agriculture, AFOLU – Agriculture, Forestry and Other Land Use) sector around traceability, commodity certification systems and market-based claims in the context of GHG reporting.
Given Proforest’s work on sustainable agricultural commodity production and value chains in priority regions across the globe, participation in the formal TWG process will enable us to address some key practical challenges faced by companies with complex agricultural and forestry value chains in the context of GHG accounting and reporting impact of their actions.
Proforest’s work in climate supports companies in defining and meeting their Forest, Land and Agriculture (FLAG) targets and commodity scope, feeds into their carbon accounting.
From Proforest, the TWG will be represented by Aditya Mishra, Principal Project Manager based in our Europe office. The full list of members can be found on the GHG Protocol website.
Greenhouse Gas Protocol is a GHG accounting and reporting standard, serving as the foundation for many other standards and initiatives tackling corporate decarbonisation.
