Proforest formalises participation in the Sustainable Soy Alliance, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable soy supply chains in Brazil
Soy is one of the pillars of Brazilian agribusiness, representing one of the most significant commodities in terms of both production and exports on the global stage. In 2025, Brazil achieved a record for soy exports, reaching 108.6 million tonnes and accounting for approximately 55.8% of global soy exports in the same year — figures that highlight not only the country’s production scale, but also its strategic importance for domestic and international markets.
This leadership position carries an essential responsibility to promote sustainability across the entire production chain — from cultivation through to final delivery. The transition to responsible practices is now a fundamental requirement to ensure access to markets that demand traceability, socio-environmental transparency and compliance with international regulations. In this context, collaborative action among multiple stakeholders is critical to addressing socio-environmental challenges and strengthening production models that generate positive outcomes for people, nature and climate.
Proforest announces its official entry into the Sustainable Soy Alliance — a collective of institutions, producers, companies and initiatives committed to catalysing collaborative action to promote more sustainable and inclusive soy production in Brazil and internationally. The Alliance works by bringing together sector stakeholders and fostering dialogue, innovation and transparency to mitigate impacts and promote responsible practices across the soy value chain, with strong emphasis on themes such as traceability, sectoral certification schemes and jurisdictional approaches.
Proforest’s formal participation reinforces its technical and collaborative mission, integrating its expertise in sustainable production and supply chains with broader sector efforts to advance tangible results on the ground. Proforest had already been engaging with the Alliance in an informal capacity, through technical contributions and partnerships in working groups and sector dialogue events — experience that now becomes formalised to further strengthen collective impact.
We believe that sustainability in the soy supply chain can only be achieved through dialogue, science and collaboration. Formalising our participation in the Sustainable Soy Alliance is an important step to strengthen the movement alongside key sector actors, expand technical synergies and accelerate practical actions that promote responsible, transparent production that benefits the climate, communities and the market. We had already been contributing technically to the Alliance; today we take a further step to consolidate and expand this engagement alongside key stakeholders.
