Additional trustees for The Proforest Initiative
The Proforest Initiative is a not for profit organisation working around the globe to support the sustainable production and use of natural resources. Proforest is a leader in the development and implementation of sustainable approaches for both forestry and a range of agricultural commodities. We work with companies, government departments, NGOs and civil society organisations to implement sustainability in practise, supporting development while minimising any environmental impacts.
Proforest is a registered charity operating as a company limited by guarantee. Based in Oxford with offices in Accra, Brasilia and Kuala Lumpur, we employ 36 staff. Our annual turnover is approximately £1 million.
Proforest is currently seeking additional members to strengthen its Board of Trustees. To help us grow we need people who can help Proforest achieve the implementation of our strategic plan and ensure efficient management of the organisation. You would need to be able to commit the necessary time (three – four afternoons a year) and energy to Proforest, attend quarterly meetings, have a real interest in the aims of the charity, and demonstrate independent judgement and consistently high standards. Ideally, new trustees will also possess skills in one or more of the following areas:
- Networking and relationship building at a high level
- Business and change management
- Legal compliance
- Charity governance
- Information technology
- Knowledge and experience of global conservation
The work is highly rewarding. You will work with others on the Board and staff who have a shared belief, shared values, and commitment to achieve our vision.
In summary your responsibilities will include:
- Utilising your specific skills in the interests of the charity.
- Regularly attending Board meetings and working jointly with other members and supporting senior staff.
- Promoting and developing the charity both strategically and operationally
This is an opportunity to join Proforest at a critical point in our development as an organisation, and make a difference globally. If you share our passion, commitment and cause, we would welcome hearing from you.
