Collaboration and Conversation at the International Palm Oil Conference, Colombia

Join Proforest at Stand 39 to learn about our work, the POCG and RSPO certification

From September 26 to 30, the Proforest Latin America team will participate in the International Palm Oil Conference in Cartegena de Indias, Colombia. The event, organised by the National Federation of Oil Palm Growers (Fedepalma) of Colombia, gathers key actors in the palm oil industry from different parts of the world.

Proforest will be exhibiting at stand 39, where we will be available to speak to attendees about our consulting work and technical support for companies in the palm oil sector in Latin America. Additionally, the Proforest team will be meeting with companies in order to strengthen collaboration and partnership opportunities, and there will be a number of side events for specific projects underway.

On September 28th we will mark progress made since the signing of the collaboration agreement of the "Forests for Water" landscape project in 2018 by Cargill, Fedepalma, Proforest and six palm oil companies in the Lebrija River basin, in Santander (Colombia).

The first in-person meeting of the Latin American Chapter of the Palm Oil Collaboration Group (POCG) is also taking place on September 28th. The POCG Latin America chapter brings together more than 25 companies from different parts of the palm oil supply chain in the region, to support and accelerate the effective implementation NDPE commitments (No Deforestation, No Peat, No Exploitation). This meeting will address the progress and perspectives of the work by the POCG Global and Latin American chapters, as well as reconnecting the members of the group after remote activities. POCG Latin America is an initiative led by Cargill, PepsiCo, AAK and Proforest. All stakeholders across the palm supply chain, including NGOs and civil society organizations from the region are welcome to join.

Representatives from Central American palm oil companies will gather to celebrate the certification of a group of smallholders under the RSPO standard later that same day, September 28th. This is a significant milestone achieved thanks the hard work of these producers, with the support of palm oil producing companies, facilitated by Proforest and the RSPO.

Proforest invites attendees at the Conference to visit us at Stand 39, located on the second floor of the venue exhibit.
