Proforest at World Cocoa Foundation Annual Partnership Meeting, Oct 26 - 27
Ruth Nussbaum moderating a panel on the landscape approach
Proforest will be at the World Cocoa Foundation’s Annual Partnership Meeting in Amsterdam, from Wednesday October 26 - Thursday, October 27. Global and European director, Ruth Nussbaum will be moderating a panel session on “Collaborative Landscape Approaches to Safeguard Forests”, which will look at the need to take a landscape approach, alongside company supply chain actions, to prevent future deforestation, restore degraded lands and support farmers to grow more cocoa on less land.
Panellists include John Buchanan – Conversation International; Doreen Asumang-Yeboah – Rights and Advocacy Initiatives Network; Ryan McNeill – Nestlé; and Caroline Winchester – World Resources Institute.
Ruth will open up the session with a framing on the importance of working both within and beyond supply chains to deliver positive outcomes for people, nature and climate, as well as introduce the key challenges that must be addressed going forward. The session will explain and explore the landscape approach and how it can safeguard protected forests, lessons learned from other commodities and sectors, as well as the role of the private sector in partnering with governments, NGOs and communities.
Proforest’s programme manager in Côte d'Ivoire, Daleba Khapeni, will also be in Brussels for the Annual Partnership Meeting.
