Afua is an impact-driven sustainability practitioner with over 15 years’ experience working in government and leading international consultancy. She has gained a wealth of experience across facilitating multi-stakeholder initiatives, policy development, organisational development, strategy implementation and gender mainstreaming. She has designed and delivered intervention strategies that address the regulatory, commercial, sustainability and inclusion constraints in the agricultural sector.

Afua managed the Africa Sustainable Commodities Initiative (ASCI), formerly Tropical Forest Alliance Africa Palm Oil Initiative in the participating Anglophone including Ghana, Sierra Leone and Liberia. In Ghana, the process resulted in changes in regulation for tree crops regulation. Afua previously led the team implementing the Building on Legality to Deliver Responsible and Deforestation-free Commodity Supply Chain (Africa Legality) programme.

She holds an MSc in Environmental Policy and Management (Distinction) from the University of Gloucestershire, UK, a BSc in Natural Resources Management (First Class) from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana and a Certificate in Policies, Strategies and Support Systems for Rural Revitalization from the Weitz Centre for Development Studies in Israel. She is an RSPO lead auditor and Lead Tutor.

Afua is a Mandela Washington Fellow (2014) and a Commonwealth Shared Scholarship Scheme Scholar.
