Augustus Asamoah

Dr Augustus Asamoah leads on coordinating and implementing programmes in Proforest's Africa regional office. Augustus is a conservation ecologist with 18 years' experience in biodiversity, environmental conservation and tropical forest ecology and management. As one of the few qualified and functional field ornithologists in Ghana, he was instrumental in the rediscovery of the globally-threatened White-necked Picathartes in Ghana and is largely credited with the current knowledge of the species in Ghana. Prior to joining Proforest, he worked for four years as the Forestry Management and Conservation Specialist on the UNDP/Ghana Cocoa Board Environmental Sustainability and Policy for Cocoa Production in Ghana project, providing technical expertise on forestry and environmental sustainability issues in the cocoa landscape in Ghana. He worked for the Ghana Wildlife Society for more than ten years before joining the UNDP.
Augustus has a PhD in Biodiversity Management from the University of Ghana, an MRes from the University of York, UK, and BSc in Natural Resources Management from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana.
