Cathy Burton
Project Manager
Cathy is a dedicated and enthusiastic individual with strong practical and theoretical agricultural knowledge, combining an MSc in Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security with practical farm knowledge and agricultural research experience. Her undergraduate BSc degree is in International Relations & Global Development from Leeds Beckett University.
For her master’s dissertation, she evaluated the effectiveness of a soil erosion measurement tool in estimating water-induced erosion on cocoa growing and semi-subsistent smallholding plots in Bundibugyo, eastern Uganda. This included semi-structured interviews with fifty smallholders.
Prior to joining Proforest, she worked as a graduate market analyst for the Agriculture & Horticulture Development Board. Cathy comes from a practical dairy and livestock farming background in the UK and previously worked for a global trekking company.
