Jhon Aunta
GIS Expert
Jhon is a Cadastral and Geodesy Engineer and holds a master's degree in Geospatial Technologies from Nova University Lisbon and the Institute for Geoinformatics at the University of Münster. He has over 10 years of experience promoting the use of spatial data, including the implementation, development and management of geographic information systems (GIS) and their integration with other systems.
As a GIS consultant, Jhon has worked on projects for the public and private sectors, including the development and update of the WebGIS solution for the District Planning office of the city of Bogota, the GIS viewer for the Colombian Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology and Environmental Studies (IDEAM), and regional environmental authorities. He was part of the team responsible for the implementation of the Geospatial Monitoring Center at the Colombian Mining Agency, created for the permanent monitoring of mining production areas through satellite imaging. He has also worked with rural communities in social cartography processes during the pilot project of the multipurpose cadaster in Colombia.
In his free time he enjoys running, although nowadays he has opted more for jogging and cycling due to a couple of injuries. He enjoys conversing with friends and family, and traveling whenever possible. He has fun creating itineraries to explore unknown places. His engineering mindset is always present, so he enjoys watching and listening to videos about technological advances.
