Exporters from Brazil and EUDR: beef and soy dry runs

As part of the program "Traceability, Monitoring and Transparency Systems in the Beef and Soy Chains in Brazil", Proforest developed the project "Brazilian Exporters and the EUDR: Dry Runs in Beef and Soy supply chains" with five partner companies. Four dry runs were carried out: one of soy with an exporting company (supported by GIZ – AgriChains programme), one of soy with an operator and its Brazilian supplier, one of meat with an exporting slaughterhouse (supported by GIZ – SAFE programme) and one of leather with an exporting tannery (supported by Al-INVEST Verde).
This report presents discussions on the challenges and opportunities experienced by exporting companies during this period of adaptation to implement the Regulation on Products Free from Deforestation (EUDR). The socio-environmental monitoring systems of suppliers of relevant commodities and products were analysed, as well as segregation and traceability systems from the plot of land to the shipment of cargo to the European Union. This process considered the collection, analysis, storage and provision of information, data and documents by Brazilian exporters, and the discussions were divided into three parameters: Geolocation, Traceability and Segregation; Deforestation-Free; and Legal Compliance.
