Setting up and strengthening gender committees in the palm oil sector

Gender commitees

Gender committees are established to oversee organisational initiatives promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment in the workplace. However, in Indonesia, they are often misperceived as women-only organisations focused on social gatherings and healthcare check-ups.

This study aims to clarify the actual role of gender committees; provide guidance on how to establish them, and highlight best practices based on Siak Pelalawan Landscape Program (SPLP) interventions.

This publication is part of the deliverables from the Social Dialogue workstream within SPLP. This workstream is a collaboration between CNV International and SPLP, with the long-term objective of improving industrial relations between palm oil workers and companies.
