Mars

Proforest has worked with Mars since 2017 when the company boosted their activities in key origin countries to meet their deforestation-free commitments. With an initial focus on their beef and cocoa supply chains, we began advising and started the partnership by supporting Mars to devise and implement a strategy to land their beef commitments in Brazil and cocoa commitments in Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire. We later supported Mars in the review and expansion of their beef and soy plans, addressing other key origin countries in Latin America: Argentina and Mexico. The nature of our partnership work with Mars has meant that we can build on supply chain mapping, supplier engagement and existing initiatives on the ground to foster more sustainable supply chains whilst working to meet the company’s sustainability goals.
