Applying the FSC Principles & Criteria for responsible rubber production (Nigeria (Socfin) and Cameroon (Hevecam)

Proforest provides technical support to several companies to meet certification requirements across various commodities. Two examples in the rubber sector include baseline assessments and certification action planning for Socfin and Hevecam. At Hevecam, following the baseline assessment to identify gaps between the company’s operations and the FSC requirements, a detailed roadmap was developed towards addressing the gaps and consequently meeting the standard requirements. Proforest provided on-site and virtual trainings on the FSC requirements for key staff of various departments of Hevecam. The company was also supported to establish and implement management systems including the chain of custody. This involved providing continuous coaching and helping with the development of documented policies and procedures to guide responsible production. The company  has also taken advantage to strengthen their team and internal systems including establishing platforms for stronger relations with local and national stakeholders.
