Monitoring compliance on land rights through the supply chain
As part of our work on the NDPE Implementation Reporting Framework – a framework for companies to be able to measure and report on their overall progress in delivering on their NDPE policy commitments – we have developed a set of criteria to measure how palm oil mills are performing on land rights commitments set by their buyers. These criteria were formed in collaboration with our partners Landesa and cover the full range of activities mills should be implementing on land rights, such as setting a policy, conducting land tenure assessments and putting in place due diligence and grievance procedures. The framework is currently being piloted with companies to see how they are delivering on their commitments on land rights throughout their palm oil supply chain.
