Interim Brazil Country Director

A Brazilian conservationist with 30 years’ experience in planning and implementing conservation programmes in over 10 countries. Sandra worked in Brazilian government agencies and later led WWF-UK’s Forests programme (8 years) and WWF’s Amazon Initiative (3 years). As an independent consultant she helped develop conservation strategies for Amazon freshwater ecosystems and for jaguars, and an assessment of the illegal wildlife trade in Brazil.

Sandra has an MSc in Conservation (University of London) and a BA in Veterinary Science (University of São Paulo). She is fluent in Portuguese, English and Spanish, and a board member of two environmental charities. Her Proforest role involves working in Brazil and the UK.
