Consumer Goods Forum: Forest Positive Coalition

The Consumer Goods Forum (CGF) brings together retailers and manufactures globally at the CEO level to collaborate and engage with key stakeholders, with the aim of addressing key challenges impacting the industry, including environmental and social sustainability, health, food safety and product data accuracy.

Within the CGF’s environmental sustainability work, the Forest Positive Coalition of Action aims to drive collective, transformative change in order to remove deforestation, forest conversion and degradation from key commodity supply chains and support forest positive businesses.

Proforest has been supporting the CGF since October 2019, with a global team across both environmental and social issues. We facilitated the process to build on Forest Positive Coalition’s agreed Theory of Change and work with members and stakeholders to collectively develop action-oriented Commodity Roadmaps and reporting for palm oil, soy, beef and pulp, paper and fibre-based packaging (PPP).

Informed by our work on the ground with suppliers and producers, Proforest is able to provide technical expertise and guidance for both retailers and manufacturers to understand the key challenges and opportunities that have underpinned the development of roadmaps.

Twenty of the world’s largest consumer goods retailers and manufacturers are members of the Forest Positive Coalition. The Coalition is represented at the CGF Board level by the CEOs of Carrefour and Mars, Incorporated, and is co-chaired at the Steering Committee level by Carrefour and Mondelēz International.

You can read more about the importance of collaboration in creating the forest positive roadmaps in this CGF blog by Proforest’s Ruth Nussbaum.
