Proforest share technical expertise at the Global Legal and Sustainable Timber Forum in Macau
Proforest's Aristotle Boaitey participated in the Global Legal & Sustainable Timber Forum in Macao in September attended by ~700 delegates from ~45 countries. There was a strong focus on China's green transition, the need for industry transformation & digital innovation, and why passive compliance is no longer enough. Aristo was part of a panel on supply chain resilience where he shared how Proforest's BRIDGE programme is helping to align demand-side requirements with initiatives in producer countries, as well as the need for an integrated approach to resilience.
The panel discussion was on the topic of Transformation of Industry Patterns for Supply Chain Resilience. Aristo's submissions first looked at the key underlying challenge of misalignment between demand-side and producer countries. On BRIDGE, he shared that it is bringing together governments and companies to build practical, nationally led pathways for action, through convening expert working groups to share best practices; and facilitating bilateral meetings. A key emphasis was placed on leveraging existing systems instead of duplicating efforts with limited resources.
