Guidance for Deforestation-Free Supply Chains

2025 marks a major milestone for companies working to eliminate deforestation and conversion from agricultural commodity supply chains. While there has been real progress, challenges in delivering on DCF commitments and addressing complex supply chains remain.

To support companies in embedding best practices, staying accountable to their commitments, and continuing to drive progress, the Consumer Goods Forum’s Forest Positive Coalition (CGF FPC), in collaboration with technical partner Proforest,  has launched a new video series. This series provides practical guidance on implementing and reporting on the FPC deforestation- and conversion-free (DCF) methodologies for four commodities that represent the highest risk of deforestation and conversion globally: palm oil, beef, soy, and pulp, paper, and fibre-based packaging (PPP).

Each video introduces the FPC DCF methodology for a specific commodity. Through these videos, suppliers and other key users can learn how to apply this methodology to assess and claim DCF volumes using tools like traceability systems, certification, area-level monitoring and supplier control mechanisms. The presented methodology includes sectoral frameworks such as the NDPE Implementation Reporting Framework  (IRF). The videos also mention the FPC approach for non-DCF volumes.

While these resources are a valuable tool to enable greater transparency and consistency in reporting on DCF progress, they are only part of the solution. Achieving long-term impact also requires action to address the root causes of deforestation and conversion. In Proforest’s recent Insight From deforestation- and conversion-free to resilient production and supply chains, we make the case for moving beyond a focus on “DCF compliance” toward supply chains that are truly resilient, inclusive and nature-positive.

Meeting DCF targets must not be the endpoint - it should be seen as a baseline for a broader transformation towards resilience.

Proforest works with companies to make this shift a reality. DCF is a foundation, but achieving lasting impact means building resilient supply chains that go beyond compliance. We support this through regenerative production, inclusive smallholder engagement, and nature-positive action that delivers environmental, social and economic benefits.

The methodology featured in this video series is a key foundation - but companies must now utilise it to take their transformation further, supporting long-term change on the ground.
