Louise Cavalcante

At Proforest, Louise supports sustainability initiatives across agricultural commodities, while also contributing to work across other themes, including responsible finance, and supporting colleagues across the Brazil team. Her work spans both practice and policy — including analytical contributions such as the Mapeamento de Requisitos Plataforma AB+S, a cross-commodity study mapping sustainability requirements for Brazil's Agro Brasil + Sustentável platform. She has also contributed to sector-level initiatives including the CGF FPC Beef Working Group and the Cerrado Protocol.
Before joining Proforest, Louise completed her PhD at Wageningen University in Public Administration and Policy, focusing on drought policy in Brazil's semiarid regions. It's a lens she carries into her current work: understanding how frameworks translate into practice, and how decisions land for the people they're meant to reach.
That combination of policy rigour and ground-level pragmatism is what drew her to Proforest, and what she brings to every project.
