Marcos Marques is a Forest Engineer with over a decade of experience in sustainability, climate action and socio‑environmental development in the Amazon. At Proforest, he works as a Project Management Assistant supporting sustainable cattle initiatives, traceability systems and the implementation of insetting strategies in supply chains, combining technical rigour, field experience and a collaborative, multi‑stakeholder approach. His work integrates technical analysis, data governance, stakeholder engagement and the development of research and benchmarks that inform decision‑making for companies and partners.

Before joining Proforest, he built a robust career in the voluntary carbon market and REDD+ projects, focusing on socio-environmental safeguards, territorial governance and participatory methodologies. He has served as an internal auditor for VCS/CCB-certified projects, led technical procedures involving traditional communities, coordinated methodological working groups and supported third-party verification processes. His background also includes consultancy in Nature-based Solutions (NbS), scientific research in the Amazon, and authorship of technical publications on forest dynamics, biomass and forest product supply chains.

Marcos is currently focused on strengthening the implementation of robust climate solutions by integrating traceability, deforestation‑free approaches, socio‑environmental integrity and data governance in agricultural supply chains. His work reflects Proforest’s mission to provide practical solutions that bridge sustainability commitments with real action on the ground, combining technical credibility, local knowledge and trusted multi‑stakeholder collaboration.
