The World Benchmarking Alliance (WBA) will be launching its second iteration of its Food and Agriculture Benchmark (FAB) with its first ever Nature Benchmark (NB) during the first week of October. This year, WBA will compare the results of the 350 most influential multi-national companies in the food and agriculture sector assessed between its first and second FABs and will also assess the same 350 companies across its Nature Benchmark over a total of 62 indicators. The narrative will lead to key messages around corporate accountability and future pathways and opportunities to create the impact needed on the ground.

A discussion on corporate accountability needs to provide options for companies, existing platforms and initiatives that are established and effective. This side event will introduce the Africa Sustainable Commodity Initiative (ASCI), a functional multistakeholder platform for responsible commodity agriculture in Central and West Africa, including the Congo Basin. Inclusive of communities, government and companies, this provides a platform for corporates to engage in food systems transformation, in commodity supply chains such as palm oil, rubber, cocoa, coffee and shea.
